How Managers Can Increase Productivity

How Managers Can Increase Productivity

Managers are judged against many different metrics in their working duties but the primary assessment tool is how you can improve and develop the productivity of the area that you have responsibility for. This will help secure your place in your organisation.

Your role is to influence, motivate, and encourage your team members so your focus upon productivity should be their focus on productivity.

To make productivity a reality the following techniques will help you to achieve the standards that you are working towards:

Focus on communication

This is essential in winning the trust of your team and the more staff know and understand what is going on, the more they will want to get engaged in increasing productivity. Good communication allows you to set goals and purpose and builds a solid foundation for success.

Go big on collaboration

The more the team collaborates the greater the likelihood of achieving the goals that you set. Being productive is not just what you do, it has to be part of what everybody is involved in. Take time to set out the vision and the path that you are working towards making sure that all of the team contribute to what is going on. Always remember that the more people that are involved in a project the greater the chance of success as they bring different perspectives and views that you will not even think of!

Plan weekly and set goals

Every team should have short-term goals to achieve the big ones – this is solely your responsibility so make sure this is a top priority for you to consider. Make sure that you set the goals on a weekly basis.

Recognise skill and use this to your advantage

It is important to know and access the skill of each and every member of your team. They all have different strengths and weaknesses which make for a rich blend of skills that bring quality performance and outcomes. Once you have mapped this out you can structure the workload of your team accordingly.

Always be aware that productivity is a team effort so it is essential to involve as many people in the process as possible.

Good Luck!
