Communication is a vital skill that we all need to work upon – even the most skilful leaders, managers and politicians succeed or fail by getting their communications messages correct.
There are basically three Communication Rules we all need to follow:
- Is the content of my message relevant? If not then it will simply be ignored, and rightly so.
- Is the content of my message reliable? If I take the message at face value and accept it as being honest and truthful will I be let down when the reality of the situation becomes widely known?
- Is the content of my message free from bias? Is it a fair and honest representation of what is really happening or does it just reflect what I want to say and the spin I want to put onto facts?
